“Anelare 2006 Nonna Viola Red Wine, Columbia Valley, $58 -- A gold winner and one of my favorites examples of blending syrah into red table wines. In fact, it leads with syrah (50 percent), which helps explain its juicy blackberries and fleshy texture. Next month this winery is planning to open its tasting gallery in the Southridge area. Perfect with a lamb dish."

2008 Seattle Wine Awards
Our 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon has won the Vintner's Honor - Outstanding Cabernet Sauvignon in the 2008 Seattle Wine Awards. Some notes from the Executive Director Christopher Chan, "Our esteemed panel of 15 prominent wine professionals spent two-days tasting and evaluating 613 Washington wines and are pleased to announce their consensus. We hope you will be proud to have received such a prestigious honor as (on average) only 3.5 out of 10 wines were recognized for a Seattle Wine Award. “Anelare 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon, price not listed. I'd never even heard of this winery. A little research uncovered it as a project of Victor Cruz, owner of Canon De Sol Winery in Badger Canyon. I loved the rich fruit and bold tannins, while some of the other judges found the structure a little over the top. I gave it a high silver, while the panel scored it a bronze. "
